The Department of History, Geography, Social Sciences and Citizenship Education of Colegio Bicentenario Adenauer Melipeuco aims to develop critical thinking skills and active participation in group discussions and debates, arguing opinions, positions and proposals to reach agreements and exploring ideas in depth. In this way students can express themselves confidently and foster a critical and reflective spirit, giving them a better understanding of society and their role in it.

Our department constantly seeks to develop the skills specific to the subject, such as temporal and spatial thinking, analysing and working with sources, critical thinking and communication, through research and the analysis of primary and secondary sources from the periods studied and from current national and international affairs.

Every year our department holds various activities to build and strengthen teamwork and foster a critical spirit, as well as to create a space for meeting and participation.

These activities include, for example:

• History Congress.
• Field trips that make the most of our natural and social surroundings.
• University preparation courses.
• Presentations and debates for the school community on topics related to the curriculum.
• Joint work with other departments to generate meaningful learning for students.
• Creation of an interactive museum.

The Science Department of Colegio Bicentenario Adenauer promotes learning in the natural sciences through students' observation, analysis and inference, which allows them to explain phenomena around them. In this way, students' imagination is combined with their ability to support their observations with scientific arguments.

The branches of science taught at the school are coordinated with other subjects to plan activities that interest students, fostering their love of science. Students also take part in various regional events organised with bodies that contribute to children's education.
