Filke Chemkün Workshop

General objectives

  • Know and understand basic forms of social interaction and knowledge of the Llaima Mapu territory from the Mapuche cosmogony, through Mapuchedungun.
  • Promote the Mapuchedungun of the Llaima Mapu territory, based on our students' interests.
  • Revive the Mapuchedungun of the Llaima Mapu territory through discursive experiences of the Mapuche world.

Specific objectives

  • Develop oral communication skills through Mapuchedungun, strengthening bilingual and intercultural abilities and getting to know the diversity and complexity of the discursive expressions of the Mapuche world, such as ülkantun (songs), epew (stories similar to a fable), trawun (gatherings) and nütram (conversations).
  • Stimulate creativity and the imaginative use of language, strengthening bilingual oral expression among the children of the Filke Chemkün Workshop through children's theatre techniques.
  • Encourage spaces for physical and oral recreation within the workshop, in order to strengthen our students' educational experiences in their artistic presentations and performances.

General descriptions

The Filke Chemkün Workshop created recreational spaces based on the discursive expressions of the Mapuche world, to foster healthy self-esteem and reaffirm the values, integrity and way of being of the children of the Llaima Mapu territory, valuing our ancestral language, Mapuchedungun. To do so, on Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:00 we shared different moments, situations and spaces, creating various artistic pieces, just as the workshop's name Filke Chemkün (diversity of things) says. Above all, we respectfully shared the Küme Mongen.

Our performances and artistic pieces grew stronger through theatre techniques, combining elements such as gesture, including sign language in our songs, speech in Mapuchedungun, and sounds and performances before an audience. This strengthened group experiences and coexistence, incorporating principles that encourage respect for oneself, one's classmates and the territory, and helped students learn to face the public, lose their stage fright and express themselves proudly in Mapuchedungun, strengthening the self-esteem of each member of the workshop.

The students of the Filke Chemkün Workshop also always show an active and participatory attitude towards the activities proposed by the school, even organising and presenting their performances in other educational spaces of the Llaima Mapu territory, such as rural schools and the cultural spaces of trafkintu and trawun.
